Is "pock" an archaic synonym for pimple?

no - it's a skin disfigurement caused by small pox - everybody got it - and almost everybody carried the scars their whole lives. People were pretty ugly with these things. The exception to this were the milk maids who hung around cattle and became immune to small pox by developing an immunity to cow pox.
